Assessing Acquiescing

Acquiescing.

What. A. Fun. Word. I forgot how much I liked to say it...perhaps because I've outgrown it's definition.

"If you have been acquiescing to the needs of others... It's time to stand up for yourself."

I love when the Universe gives me little tokens of love, little repeating breadcrumbs. Last night, I had a wonderful conversation among friends about the importance of boundaries. After all, we are now officially in Scorpio season which is all about boundaries and being introspective & reflecting upon our shadow side.

One of my shadows is giving to others without boundaries or replenishing my cup. "Pouring from an empty cup." I think any people pleaser can identify with that expression on a soul-level. I love nurturing others and showing my love through service & care, but there has to be an equal balance. A balance between giving & taking, a balance between action and rest. The world is full of energy vampires who consciously, or unconsciously, will suck the life right out of the people pleaser. (Insert stress, inflammation, autoimmune diseases, etc...but that's a story for another time.)

So, this Scorpio season, do yourself a favor. Don't acquiesce. Take a moment to look inwardly and see WHY your innate reaction wants to say "no". Are you exhausted? Does the request go against a boundary of yours?

Saying "no" is not maliciously denying someone or something. It's empowering and nurturing yourself and your boundaries.

Big Hugs,
Jenn
